What you'll walk away with

IBS is complicated, and while we wish it were possible to discuss everything during a 15-minute visit with your GI provider, that isn't realistic. This is a comprehensive program for people diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome — the material your GI team would walk you through if they had unlimited time in the room.

Fifteen lessons, taught by board-certified GI physicians, a GI dietitian, and a GI psychologist from Harvard, Stanford, UCLA, and Washington University in St. Louis. Built on ACG, AGA, and NICE guidelines and the Rome Foundation diagnostic criteria, alongside research from leading gastroenterology journals. Covering the questions you wish you could ask your doctor with information you can actually trust.

Core Program

You'll come away with an understanding of the brain-gut axis and biological pathways driving your symptoms, clarity on what your diagnosis actually means, including how the Rome criteria distinguishes the four IBS subtypes, and what other conditions should be ruled out along the way (including celiac disease, colon cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, microscopic colitis, endometriosis, carbohydrate intolerances, thyroid disease, and SIBO) and which tests are involved.

Then the program turns to what you can actually do about it. A rigorous walk through the low FODMAP diet, which patients it's best suited for, as well as other dietary strategies. The evidence base, and the honest limits, of soluble fiber, peppermint oil, digestive enzymes, and probiotics. A full lesson on medications and how gastroenterologists sequence over-the-counter and prescription options by subtype, including linaclotide, rifaximin, and neuromodulators at IBS-specific doses. An overview of brain-gut behavioral therapies, such as GI-focused CBT and gut-directed hypnotherapy, that most patients are never told about.

Expert Discussions

Six "In the Office" interviews go deeper on questions where clinical opinions vary and guidelines are not established — like SIBO, microbiome testing and food sensitivity panels — plus the IBS/endometriosis overlap, pelvic floor dysfunction, and red flags for escalating care.

We highlight where the right answer depends on your specific subtype, triggers, and medical history, because IBS management isn't one-size-fits-all. Every lesson pairs video with written content, evidence-cited charts, and clinical decision tables. The goal: give you the foundation to make treatment decisions alongside your care team, so you feel in control of your health.
